Northumberland is a wonderful place to explore.Alnwick is about 30 mile south of Berwick, it's beautiful castle has recently been featured in the Harry Potter films.
Ford and Etal are quaint villages about 15 miles from Berwick. They have some wonderful buildings, ruins and cottage industries. Etal has a great thatched pub (The Black Bull).
Holy Island (Linisfarne)is about 7 miles from Berwick. Check causeway timetables before trying to cross! There is a great history behind the island and we would recommend that you try Lindisfarne Mead.
Newcastle and Edinburgh are approx 60 miles away. There are trains almost every hour from the train station. The Edinburgh Festival takes place during the summer months and is well worth a visit.
